Hayride & Bonfire

Tonight is the church Hayride and Bonfire out toward Castalian Springs. We have been getting ready for it this morning. It's going to be a great evening... but cold evening. We look forward to everyone coming out. There will be hot dogs, chili, hot chocolate, coffee, and all the fixin's. If you are interested in coming and need more details, call the church. Blessings!

200th Post

I just celebrated my 200th post with "Coffee and Karaoke". Happy blogging.

Coffee and Karaoke

We are having a Fifth Quarter tonight following the High School football game. We've got the coffee brewing and the muffins chillin'. We are going to be singing a little karaoke tonight. I have come to realize... it does not matter how good of a singer you are... no one sings karaoke well. Just so you know... Karaoke is a Japanese abbreviated compound word: "kara" comes from "karaappo" meaning empty, and "oke" is the abbreviation of "okesutura", or orchestra (Empty orchestra). Hence the reason for using soundtracks. Anyway... it's fun. Enjoy this wonderful cold evening. It's going to be a good night.

A Night at TBN

I went to Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) tonight for their live taping. They had Jason Crabb (The Crabb Family) who was the host, David Phelps, Melissa Green of Avalon, and pastor David Boggs of New Vision Church in Louisville, Kentucky. David Phelps did an awesome job ministering in song. They all did! Also, David Boggs preached a great word for the church. If you are interested, it should air this Friday, October 24th.

Take It Like A Man

I got in a gaming contest with my two oldest tonight. First, it was Yahtzee. Kimber beat me twice. Second, I challenged her on the Wii. I chose bowling. She beat me twice... again. McKenzie was taking a nap while I was getting my tale whipped by my oldest. When she got up from napping she wanted to play me... I got beat again in bowling and then McKenzie beat her mom before going off to bed. When it comes to games... our kids know what they're doing. You might as well step up and take it like a man... they are fixin' to school you.

Parents... play games with your kids. Don't worry about throwing the game to make them look good. You better play and you better play hard. Your kids are no light weights when it comes to fun and games. Play is their work and work is their play.

My Two Racers

The Pinewood Derby Race was today. I am proud to say that my oldest daughter, Kimber, took first place triumphing over the Royal Rangers. Third place was won by McKenzie, my second daughter, finishing out two wins in the top three. All I can say is... both of you are awesome. Well done girls!

Night at the Movies

Jenny and I went to see the movie Eagle Eye tonight. The movie starred Shia LeBeouf and Michelle Monaghan. This was one intense movie. All I can say is... I don't want to use my cell phone anymore.

FCA in the Morning

Watching over100 students pile into a small classroom to hear the Word of God was encouraging this morning. Every Thursday morning at 7:00 AM, I have the privilege of helping with Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Hawkins Middle School. We normally met in the library, but today they were set up for a book fair. Our alternative meeting place was our teacher sponsor's classroom (which is quite smaller than the library). The one thing I can say about junior high students... they don't mind crowding into a small space. We had a crowd of students who listened attentively as the Word of God was shared.

Let's not give up on our students. Let's not say they're too far gone. If this morning is any indication of our future, the days ahead are bright. There are still many who long to have a relationship with God and to walk with Him everyday. God has not been pushed out of school. He walks the halls everyday in an army of young people who are discovering, and for some, yet discovering, they can make a difference. Let's pray for our students and believe for great things.

Good Times

I went to visit my parents today. I am thankful for my parents and the heritage I have received from them. I am grateful for parents who consistently took me to church on Sunday morning and Sunday evening without fail, not to mention Wednesday nights. It was on a Wednesday night at the age of 10 that I first heard the knock on my heart's door. There was a clear presentation of the Gospel directed to me and it changed my life forever. Sometimes you wonder how your life would be if things were different. What if my parents hadn't taken me to church? What if I never had a youth ministry that invested in my life? Where would I be? It only takes a moment to return to reality. I am so blessed that the Lord found me. I am so blessed I have parents who have invested in me every time the doors of the church were open. It was good to sit with them today.

At The Movies

I just got back from seeing the movie, Beverly Hills Chihuahua. My wife and I took our four girls and they loved it... I will say it again... loved it! This is a very good, clean movie. My two year old started crying twice... once when the chihuahua was lost (not to give away the movie)... and once when she was found. It was the first time my youngest ever connected to a movie. It touched me that she had compassion for this little dog's plight. This is a great family movie.

Quote For The Day

"The difference between where you are and where God wants you to be may be the painful decision you refuse to make."
