We recently added a new dog to our living space. He is a two year old full-blooded Yorkshire Terrier. His name is Gunner. He joins our 13 year old Yorkie named Spanky. Gunner is energetic while Spanky is more laid back. At 91 years old (dog years), Spanky has taken to this new young whipper snapper of 14 years (dog years) in our home. He thinks he is a young man again. They are chasing each other through the house and playing in the backyard. Gunner is also learning the ropes around the house.
It just makes me think... What would happen if our teenagers would spend more time with our seniors? It has been said that our seniors are the forgotten of our society. In reality, they have a wealth of wisdom and knowledge to share and pass on to our younger generation. Together, they would both benefit from this relationship. Learn to connect with all people. If dogs can see a value in bridging the age gap... why can't we? Think about it.

Out With The Old
My oldest is going to the dentist today and she is excited... not really! She is having some teeth pulled. Who likes having their teeth pulled? Who gets in line for that opportunity? Not many! She has to remove a few of her teeth to make room for the new ones coming in.
I got to thinking about that. There are times when God has to remove some things out of our lives to make room for the new ones. Once again, many don't volunteer to be in that line. If my daughter does not remove the teeth above, the ones below will not come in right and will mess up her mouth. She had a decision to make (actually mom and dad, but go with me). Remove now and have blessings later or keep the old and ruin what's coming. It really is a no-brainer.
What's keeping you from seeing something new in your life? Allow God to remove the things that are causing trouble in your spirit. He will replace them with the new and the better... guaranteed! Think about it!
Also, say a little prayer for my daughter. I would appreciate it. Be blessed today.

What Is God Up To?
Have you ever wondered what God was up to? I have! I've come to realize that whatever He is doing, He wants you to be involved. He is looking for people who are available. He is looking for people who will heed to the Spirit's leading. I encourage you to look for those opportunities. Look for those moments of responding to the Spirit's call and you will find yourself in the middle of what God is doing.

Enjoying Saturday
Saturday is here. Normally, we have something going. It's nice to be at home with no plans beyond the honey-do-list. Mowing the yard and putting up some shelves in the master closet tops the list today. It should be fun.
My daughters had a girls sleepover last night. I had seven girls running through the house, playing video games, board games, and keeping me up late, but it was fun. I'm glad they have good Christian friends to play and visit with. I encourage you to enjoy your kids while they're young. I'm not looking forward to the day when there are no sleepovers, board games, and keeping me up late. Cherish your children. I know I do.
I better start on the list... enjoy your Saturday.

Fantasy Football
I got my first win with my fantasy football team this weekend. My quarterback scored me 50 points. The final score was 115 - 85. I'm pleased. It's only the first week with twelve to go. I hope they can go all the way. For all you fantasy football players... I wish you well!

Baby Abby
I celebrate today with my good friends Bill and Monica on the birth of their new baby girl Abby. She is absolutely beautiful. Bill and Monica are beaming with joy. They are going to be great parents.

The Race For The Presidency
The Democratic and Republican Conventions are finally over. It has been two weeks of cheers and jeers. We have two strong tickets that are competing for the presidency of the United States. I was energized to watch the GOP this week and hear from John McCain and Sarah Palin. They have definitely proven themselves worthy against the Obama/Biden ticket. We are getting ready to see a race like no other. Whatever your political views, whether you like the candidates or you don't like the candidates, I encourage you to get out and cast your vote this November. You have heard it said that it is a critical year and we need to pick the right person. Every four years is a critical year, not just this one. Please pray and allow God to direct you this year as you cast your vote. Proverbs 14:34 says, "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people."
